Vision Statement:

We are dedicated to providing a supportive and inclusive environment where students are encouraged to creatively explore drama and develop a lifelong passion for the arts. Our goal is to assist them in becoming independent learners by fostering critical thinking and problem-solving skills. This approach ensures that students not only excel academically but also grow into well-rounded individuals capable of adapting to a dynamic world.

Drama is part of the Performing Arts faculty.

KS3 - Drama Curriculum Map

KS4 GCSE - Drama Curriculum Map

Year 7: Storytelling, physical theatre, an introduction to vocal and movement skills, improvisation in pairs, small groups and whole class, presentation techniques, introductory script work, morality plays.

Year 8: Progression of Year 7 units plus mask work, melodrama, silent movies, advanced devising project and advanced script work, playwriting.

Year 9: Study of a whole play play text, advanced physical theatre, scripted performances, whole class improvisation, drama practitioners (Bertolt Brecht) and an issue based allegory on civil rights.

KS3 - Drama Curriculum Map Level 1

Devising projects, script work, drama practitioners (Anton Brecht and Jacques Lecoq), study of a set text: An Inspector Calls by JB Priestley (mock; Missing Dan Nolan by Mark Wheeller), evaluation of a live performance, advanced improvisation, gym mat theatre, entrances and exits, chase scenes. 

KS4 GCSE - Drama Curriculum Map Level 1

  • Year 8 Gifted and Talented club
  • Shakespeare school festival
  • KS4 Productions (two performances this year; Bang Out of Order and Sticks and Stones and Mobile Phones)
  • Whole school production
